I can imagine^^ I just discovered tumblr a few weeks ago, and was frankly astonished that about everything has a “fuckyeah”, but not PJ! I thought this had to be fixed.
When I started this blog, however, I had no idea that you couldn’t assign contributors to your main blog. So I’ve just moved it:
http://fuckyeahphilippejaroussky.tumblr.com/
I used the old url of this one, so, see you over there!

I created this tumblr blog a while ago, misleaded by the perception that I could just add contributors to my main blog — I was spoilt by WordPress.

So, this page has MOVED. The new url is the old one from here:

Well, yeah, hell yeah! I hope to see you all over there, and will put a note in your ask as well.

L’alma dell’alma mia…

I vow to tend to the page’s content more seriously soon.

What I will not do is paste in each and every video from youtube or picture from google picture search. Some nice ones are obviously protected by copyright, and this includes private pictures taken at concerts. If anyone would like to submit some — I’d be delighted!

This record would make my life fulfilled.

Your life needs more of a certain adorable French countertenor. I suggest you remedy that immediately.

“Laudati pueri” (Per canto e 3 stromenti) Claudio Monteverdi

Cardinal Giulio Mazarino better know as Jules Mazarin once was the most powerful man of france as chief minister of France who secceeded to the famous Cardinal Richelieu(Yes the one from the 3 Musketeers). This man was a collector a mentor of the arts, Some pieces of his diamond collection are still part in the Louvre and his books formed the Bibliothèque Mazarine. He also was mentor for many musicians and many other musicians wrote musical pieces to gain his favours as chief minister of France, In this album are gathered some of the pieces that are believed to once were performed in honor of the Cardinal or at least were in vogue in that time with lesser know  compositors like Cazatti,Roberday,Viadana,Cima and Bassani and also the well know Frescobaldi,Montverdi,Rossi and also some anonim songs (that are probably older probably from before or an earlier reinassance and which melodies were later re used for other compositors or as a folk songs in the France of that time) Altought this is really Philippe Jaroussky’s second studio album as a soloist is more like his first album cause is his first album as a soloist who had international projection, his previous album “Musiche varie di Benedetto Ferrari” was in a very small budget and distribution and unavailable nowadays even in Itunes.  It’s a very good a album and strogly recomended. Don’t forget to get it on Itunes.

“Caldo sangue”

“Caldo salgo” aria di Ismaele dall’Oratorio” Sedecia: Re di Gerusalemme” di Alessandro Scarlatti.

As requested “vintage Jaroussky” This is the first Philippe Jaroussky recording as a professional countertenor his “debut recording” singing the role of Ismaele (Ismaele a Jewish prince son of Sedecia who was king of Jerusalem but was defeated and tormented by this mythical figure Nabucco king of Babylonnia (In some works he is  evil like this and in others is praised. Also a very high role for a countertenor Ismaele is totally a soprano role)

Sedecia(Alto castrato): Gérard Lesne Countertenor

Anna(Soprano): Virgine Pochon Soprano

Ismaele(Soprano castrato): Philippe Jaroussky Countertenor

Nabucco(Basso): Peter Harvey  Bass-Baritone

Nadabbe(Tenor): Mark Padmore Tenor

Il seminario musicale

Gérard Lesne director

Probably best version ever recorded of this oratorio for 5 soloist and choir, that is beautiful at times, very touching at times but in general is kind of a poor work I guess Scarlatti’s wasn’t really into it. Probably the most intense moment is Ismaele’s aria “Caldo sangue” (Warm blood) and is about how Anna,Sedecia and Ismaele found all their people murdered by the Babylonians (Recording that give Jaroussky world attention, the rest of the oratorio is not really exciting even than Nabucco have some bravura arias as the warrior king he is. Anyway is must have in every baroque lover music library and this version is the one.

Nah, it’s just jealous haters nagging all the time — Whether an opera singer is good looking or not — he is going to be picked on for being like he just happens to be. Thank you for putting them together ;)
